eGuide+ project
The integration of disadvantaged job seekers in the European employment market remains a particular challenge for all EU member states. Cyprus, Greece and Slovenia have no system for quality assurance in career guidance and few specific tools are available to assess the needs and aptitudes of disadvantaged job seekers. Structured career guidance is very important in addressing this challenge. This is particularly true for disadvantaged job seekers who otherwise risk ending up in low paid, low income jobs or on training courses for which they are not suited. Disadvantaged job seekers include women, elderly, young people and those with low education.
The proposed project draws on innovative results of an earlier project, eGuide (2005-2007), which developed a quality assurance framework for career guidance for disadvantaged job seekers and a set of related assessment tools. Both, framework and tools can be readily deployed in other markets.
Basic objectives of the project
- Introducing innovative eGuide results and quality assurance framework (QAF) to career guidance systems in Cyprus, Greece and Slovenia
- Expending the QAF for the needs of disadvantaged job seekers
- Translation of assessment tools into several additional languages
- Raising awareness on eGuide QAF and assessment tools among career guidance practitioners in Europe
Expected results and advantages
- Simplification of procedures, lowering barriers of acceptance on the part of the job seeker and generally raising the quality of career guidance.
- By giving practitioners access to a pan-European online platform, common tools will become easily accessible, in various language versions and for delivery on different platforms, creating benefits for guidance officers across Europe.
Workflow
The partnership will develop and run a series of dedicated training courses addressed at career guidance practitioners of Cyprus, Greece and Slovenia. The quality assurance framework and tools will be adapted and translated for local use.
eGuide QAF will be the centre of training activities, which will be free of charge. The career guidance practitioners are expected to include the QAF as main guidelines for informing in their everyday work.
A depository for tools and resources will be created in the form of an online platform. Extensive dissemination will promote the project, its results and materials among stakeholders across Europe.
